Forrest, Bryn. Digital Outsourcing: Risks, Pitfalls, and Security Considerations. 1 March 2007. 2 April 2008 http://www.wardpeter.com/2007/03/digital-outsourcing-risks-pitfalls-and.html.

This website is where I learned what is bad about digital outsourcing. It has a power point presentation that tells you about digital outsourcing. The main thing I used it for is to find out what digital outsourcing was. I had never heard of it before I stared this paper.

Myers, Linda. U.S. underestimates jobs lost by outsourcing, labor experts assert. 21 October 2004. 2 April 2008 http://www.news.cornell.edu/chronicle/04/10.21.04/outsourcing_jobs.html.

This website has a lot of good statistics. I used several of them in my paper. They really has strengthened my argument. It gives real statistics form the Midwest. This will show how much it hits home.

NYHAN, JOHN COOK and PAUL. Outsourcing long-term effects on U.S. jobs an issue. 10 March 2004. 10 April 2008 .
I am using this site to get a lot of my theory on the long term effects of outsourcing. Such as, the fact that it will increase unemployment rates. This will cause a recession because people won't have as much money to spend and this causes our economy to fall because their isn't as much money to be made.

Service, Digital Outsourcing. 2 April 2008 http://www.digitaloutsource.net/.

This is website of a company that U.S. companies pay to do their data processing. It showed me why companies do what they do. It gave me insight into what digital outsourcing is and how easy it is to do.

WREN. WREN Report: U.S. Unemployment Rate at 3-Year High. 6 April 2008. 9 April 2008 http://www.hfbusiness.com/story/story.bsp?sid=95160&var=story.

I used this site to get my unemployment rate. This was used to strengthen my argument. This is shows that we are entering economic hard times and if something doesn't change it could become much worse.

Outline

Define Outsourcing
-What most people think outsourcing is Outsourcing of jobs
*How many jobs are estimated to be lost to outsourcing. (Myers, 2004)
-Define Digital Outsourcing
*The new age of outsourcing is to out source your data processing. (Service)
Define the problems of outsourcing.
-People lose jobs.
*stats of outsourcing
-Digital outsourcing loses people jobs to.
* (Colaboration, 2007)
Solution to Problem
-Tariff of goods of companies that outsource to other countries.
* This will off set the companies from getting cheaper labor by making so they have to raise their prices and lose costumers or leave their prices and lose the profit from cheaper labor.
*Digital Outsourcing will be harder to track because its done over the internet, but will still be possible because a companies employment records go through the government and if they start to lay off all their data processors they must have started outsourcing.
* Will also need to get rid of the tax breaks companies are receiving for outsourcing right now.
*The Government will have to make and enforce it just like the do with any taxes.
*If the Government gets started drawing up these tax laws then they would probably go into effect in about 2-4 years.
*This is already an issue in the current Presidential election and if the right person gets elected then and gives a push it will happen. That’s why as American citizens we need to voice our concern with this topic which would push the government to lobby to stop the outsourcing of our jobs.
*This will only affect the large companies who outsource negatively. Over all, it will boost the U.S. Economy by making more jobs in the U.S., which means more money for people here and more money being spent.

Conclusion
-restate problem
-restate solution
-call people to vote and petition to end outsourcing.

in class essay 3

I haven’t found a topic I really like that much, but as of now it would be outsourcing. Outsourcing is when big companies get move their factories to another country to exploit their cheap labor, which in turn takes jobs away from people in the U.S. I have just heard that most of outsourcing is digital. I had never heard of digital outsourcing until yesterday. Mr. Slabaug told me about and said it would be a good subject to research. People say outsourcing is a good thing for the poorer countries that the companies move to because it gives them jobs, but it also makes them dependant on that job and that company. This makes it easy for the company to exploit the country and its people. If we could eliminate outsourcing it would be a good move to lower unemployment rates. This alone is good reason to try to stop companies from outsourcing. The reasons companies do this is because not only do have to pay American workers more, you also have to give them benefits like health insurance, vacation time, and maternity leave. The companies can’t really be blamed for wanting to outsource. They are just trying to make the most money they can just like everybody else. The government is the only thing that can stop outsourcing. I think they should put high tariffs on products that are made by companies who out source. A tariff on products made by companies that outsource would force them to either raise their price and lose some customers or leave the price the same and lose some of their profit margin. This would counter act the cheaper labor, making it equal to just keeping business in the U.S. The only way we can stop companies from outsourcing is to make so it cost too much to take advantage of cheaper labor in the long run.

Common Sense

Common, by Tomas Paine, sense uses mostly logic to make its arguments. It has good reasoning like why is a small island 2,000 miles away ruling an entire continent. The great rebuttal it also it makes is the fact that Britain was said to be the mother country, but then why would a mother treat her children so badly. In that time it was unreasonable for Britain to try governing the colonies because it would take a year for a colonist to make a petition and receive word on what was decided. Another argument is that the colonies aren’t just made of British immigrants. The colonists were from all over Europe. What gave Britain the rights to the colonies any more than the other European Countries? The colonists left Britain to get away form its persecutive rule. Now, why did they think they were allowed to rule people that left their country? Its like saying a country has the right to rule refugees that flee the country. The British also ruled the colonies for their benefit not for the country as whole, but for one small section of the country. The thing I thought was the most interesting is how the colonies were the best place to make ships, and would have been a large factor as to why Britain had such a good navy. Why would you treat your source of Navy strength as nothing more than slaves to exploit?

Spring Break

My spring break began with a two and a half hour drive home to Goshen, IN. The first night home I went to see 10,000 B.C. with my roommate, Brady. On Saturday I went to a party with Brady’s friends from high school I met some cool people that I liked, and some guys that were idiots to put it politely. On Sunday I stayed home and ate with my family and watched TV with my mom. Monday my friend, John, came over to hangout. We talked about getting tattoos this summer. After he had to leave to pick up his brother from school, I designed mine. I think it’s pretty good, but I want to see what a tattoo artist can do with it to make it better. Tuesday I bought the movie Hit Man Blood Money. It was pretty good. Wednesday I didn’t do squat. Thursday I hung out with Jerry, Austin, and Josh. We went to Steak ‘n’ Shake and harassed a waitress we knew there for about an hour, and then went cruising. Friday Austin, Matt and I went to Wings etc. and ate and watched the Big 10 tournament. Saturday my mom threw me a big birthday bash because I wouldn’t be home for my birthday. It was awesome. All my old friends came. Sunday I went to church, ate lunch with my family, and drove home listening to the old NOW cds.

Andas Game comparison

I’m not a big fan of comic books and the comic version of Anda’s Game I didn’t like as much as the written version. Reading things more than once isn’t something that I do very often either, which could be why I didn’t like it as much. When you already know what is going to happen, it tends to make reading something less motivating. The one thing that I enjoyed about the comic book version is that it was an opportunity to put a face with a character. When you put a face with a character, it gives it more of a real feel to me. I loved reading the Lord of the Rings series after the movies came out because I could picture the characters and places that otherwise would have been skewed and I still found more details the movies left out. When I read or watch something I’m a person that pays attention to detail. I think that what sets apart the good from the great, the details of a book or a movie. One thing that I didn’t like about the Anda’s game story is that it didn’t have a lot of detail. It had the basic storyline and that was. There was the attention of the little things that are going to come into play. The best example of details coming back into play later in a story is J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. I know it’s probably not the coolest thing to say, but those are excellent books. There is no such thing as an insignificant detail. Everything from the all the previous book comes into play in the 7th book. Don’t get me wrong. Anda’s Game was a good story, but the adventures of Harry Potter were altogether a great story.

personal college statement

cool. good transitions. Can't see the first person because of sun. Couldn't here the 3rd person when they turned to the statue. It's a little dull. You should do something to liven it up a little bit.

screne play

The sound could be better. Well done overall. The drunk was obviously not drunk. She needs to talk drunk. Her speach was to fluent.

Anda's Game

The first thing I’d like to say is WOW, and that’s a wow on the story and a WOW for resembling World of Warcraft. I only personally played a game online once, which makes me wonder if this kind of thing really happens. I’ve known of the swet shops for a long time and the problems with them are astronomical. I play a lot of video games and I’ve never thought of a game hurting someone. Halo is the only thing I’ve played online and I don’t think it’s possible to do this kind of thing on Live. I would be like Anda if something like this happens, but not obese. I’ve been blessed with a very high metabolism and haven’t gained any wait since my sophomore year of high school. I play video games every day, but I don’t think I can get into a game enough to get to that level. My short attention span prohibits it.
It was a nice change in pace to what I usually read. I have come accustomed to reading how to thing for college. It has become very tedious. The story of Anda working really hard to become good at the game and getting that caught up in it, but ending up doing stuff that goes against her morals. It is a lot like your normal story of reaching for power and ending up hurting others without realizing your doing, then stepping back and realizing it. It kept me into the story and wanting more.

Rhetorical Analysis

The Stem-Cell Veto written by David P. Gushee, Ph. D. is an article that is a step into the world of the stem cell research debate and a stepping stone to understanding both sides of the argument. This article looks at Stem Cell research in more of a Sociological way. This article is an excellent alteration of the normal articles you normally read about stem cell research. It looks more at why the president hasn’t passed the Bill in favor of stem cell research. It explains things in a way that helps the reader understand the issues involved in the subject. The Stem-Cell Veto written by David P. Gushee, Ph. D. is an article that everyone should read if they have any standing on the stem cell debate.
President Bush is known to be against stem cell research. He has vetoed bills for stem cell research. It is his view and the view of many that the research is killing innocent human beings that can’t speak for themselves. As Gushee says in his article, “Embryonic stem cell research requires the destruction of the embryos in question. They are exploited, or experimented on, or harvested--choose whatever term you like--by some members of the human community for the benefit of others. They die that others might (someday, maybe) find healing for their maladies.” (Gushee) What many people don’t realize is that it is only a matter of time until the bill is passed in its favor. The American public is starting to sway toward stem cell research. A large part of it is the hate of George W. Bush. The American people are starting to go against anything he stands for. It is the view of many that when the next Democrat is elected President that they will pass the bill. Gushee’s article supports this view and brings many logical arguments against it.
“Few of us would consent to such an arrangement if it involved us. Personally, I would not consent to having my body’s resources exploited and my life ended in order to provide benefits to other people’s bodies and lives. At least, I would want to have the opportunity to make such a decision for myself. Embryos, of course, are not able to speak up for themselves and make such a choice.” (Gushee) I absolutely love this quote because not many think of in these terms. Not many put their selves in the place of the embryo. The only question in the equation is when human life begins. This is what the entire argument is based on. The one side says that they are human beings and the other side says they shouldn’t be considered human beings yet.
Another agreement is that many of the embryos used are ones that are frozen leftovers and would be thrown out anyway. Gushee gives a good argument to this too, “One response would be to draw this analogy: people on death row are going to die anyway. So why not experiment on them, even if those experiments involve killing them? After all, we might as well get some good use out of them. The same thing could be said for, say, millions of people with terminal illnesses, or in nursing homes in their very last days.” (Gushee) The counter argument would be that embryos are not human beings, which is the start of the entire debate all over again. The only question I have is if these embryos would be in women would they not be birthed. Then, how can it not be considered not to be a human life at steak?
These arguments are very well thought out and enlightening. Gushee’s article is chalked full of these insightful scenarios. The article is an excellent realization tool for arguments for and against stem cell research. It isn’t a question that this research would or would not save many lives, but at the cost of many embryos. It is a well written article that talks about the issues stated earlier and should be read by any who have a view on whether stem cell research should be passed or not.

Barriers

My main barrier in my writing is that I’m a very structured person. The only time I’m creative is when I’m drawing. My sturdiness has caused me to be more of a dull writer and also it makes it hard to convey my ideas, that I feel are pretty good, but aren’t given a proper voice due the wording is too systematic and not a varying from of different structures. Structure also keeps me from wondering the world of different styles of writing. The Confines structure among some other things are inhibiting my writing skill.
Many people have different barriers of writing that not only bar them from writing well or writing professionally. My mom is a very good writer and a very emotional person. She can’t always put into words what she is trying to say because she tends to get too worked up. This is what shows me her writing skill because she expresses herself and her views rightly and in ways that help me to understand her side of what is happening. She even writes to herself some times when something is bothering her. She has only written one thing in her life that has been published. It was to our City News paper, The Goshen News, and the article was about how young Amish children are allowed to drive pony carts on the road. Living in the Amish Ghetto, as I Like to call it, we have on several occasions almost hit these young children due to the fact that they aren’t mature enough to handle a pony or even sometimes a full grown horse. She wrote a Letter to the News addressing this issue on night and sent it out just before the mail was picked up for the day. That day on her way home from work she almost hit two different pony carts along the way, and both of those carts were driven by children between the ages of 4-7. Once she had calmed down she couldn’t believe she had sent it in. She realized our Amish neighbors would probably be angry at her. She got several letters in response to the letter that was published. The barrier is that my mom wouldn’t have sent that letter in if she wasn’t so mad and hadn’t realized she was going to step on someone’s toes. Her ethical value of not angering someone is the prison that keeps her writing to locked in the privacy of our home.

Looking at Trey Fortunato’s Facebook people can quickly pick out that although he is still on single status he is involved with a girl named Seirra. He seems fun loving and well travelled. He has a long list of places he’s been. Judging by all the places he’s lived his dad has to be a military man. He obviously drinks, although it’s probably because lived in Germany. Germany is very much a drinking culture and it’s perfectly legal. He has an application that obviously is a joke sent by his friends. It’s a bumper sticker application that one of his friends sends him pro gay bumper stickers. It could be that he is pro gay rights, but it seems more to be a friend jokingly calling him gay. My friends are much the same way.
One of the things I most admire about his Facebook is his iThink application. It has several statements or quotes that he thinks are true. These statements have shown me that he is a respectable, moral individual. He is most likely a forgiving person because one of his statements is “It is easier to forgive than forget.” Another is evidence that he respects women and doesn’t view them as just people to do house work and have sex with.
Trey has lived in three different countries. He has lived in the U.S., Japan and Germany. Living in these different cultures has probably given him valuable life experiences and met both strange but interesting people. I’m envious of his travelling experience because I love to travel and meet new people. I’ve found that it one of the greatest tools of learning not to be intolerant of other cultures. This makes me reasonably sure that he is very accepting of other people despite heritage.

Anyone can learn a lot about a person by how they decorate and maintain where they live. I have an apartment in Purdue Village. The first thing people notice when they walk into or apartment is our fifty inch HD TV. Then your eyes will float a little lower to see that we have a X-box 360, Wii, and a 1000 Watt surround sound. most people think that were just a couple of video game freaks, but we aren't. If you look at our game selection you will notice that most of them are sports. I also have some of my art from high school hanging over my desk that shows my artistic side. My roomate and I both have guitars. This is also a representation of both of our love for music, which is also artistic.
Another way you can get a glimpse of who I am is my movie collection. I have accrued around sixty movies since I turned 17. I’m now 19 and for two years that’s around $800 in movies. As you can see I like movies. My collection contains mostly comedy and action movies. I also have quite a few supernatural type movies that are somewhat action but have an imaginative feel to them. This shows people that not only a normal guy who sticks to manly movies, but I also have a bit of imagination myself.

My Face to the World

A My Space page to most is viewed to most as a way to chat, socialize, and keep in touch with friends, but most don’t realize it is a representation of who you to the world. For example, my My Space has different groups and applications that I am a part of. By choosing things like the Battle Between the Jedi and the Sith shows others that I’m a fan of Star Wars and to some that I’m not. It also shows some of your personal information like where I go to college and what Activities I like doing. One of my favorite parts of My Space is the pictures people put on their My Space. I personally have put none of my own but some of my friends have put some of me on their and labeled my name and can be viewed from mine. My person favorite and most telling of who I am is the one I posted as my picture beside my name. It is of my friends and I in body paint at a football game. I am very into sports and it is an obvious example.
